Passengers should be aware that container ships do not usually carry a doctor – only basic first aid treatment is available. Passengers must be able to negotiate stairs well because accommodation and facilities are spread over several decks. Some ships may have an elevator. Medical Certificate All passengers must have their doctor complete the medical questionnaire which will be sent with your confirmation letter – this is to be done only 60 days prior to the sailing date. Vaccinations Please speak to your doctor regarding immunisation questions. Yellow fever is generally compulsory due to you coming into contact with the crew as Cargo ship passenger (not based on the ports you visit). Travel Insurance You must have comprehensive Travel Insurance which includes cancellation cover due to medical, family crisis and other substantial reasons not to travel. Passport Passengers must be in possession of a valid passport with at least six months validity.
